Colleagues from the Town Team and the University joined Vision Buxton on July 5th in providing mentors to help Year 9 students during their PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) Day. Their task was to work for the day on a promotional campaign to promote Buxton. Working in small teams the students were encouraged to develop potential videos in the form of a story board, press releases, and Power Point presentations.
The mentors spent the day overseeing the work and prompting discussion, with a view to offering to showcase the most promising videos or magazine articles on the Visit Buxton website and in Pure Buxton magazine.
We were impressed by the quality of much of the material and found that the views of these younger members of our community were mature and helpful, and can help to inform the debate about Buxton’s future.
Vision Buxton looks forward to continuing to work with Buxton’s secondary school sector.
