Vision Buxton is coordinating a familiarisation (FAM) visit for coach tour operators and other groups interested in visiting the town.
The visit takes place on Monday 5th September 2022. Hosted by Parkwood Leisure at the Pavilion Gardens, it will include welcome presentations, an exhibitor workshop, lunch, town tours with Discover Buxton Tours and further optional tours of Poole’s Cavern, the Buxton Crescent Heritage Experience or Buxton Opera House. Businesses and events which cater for large groups have been invited to take part in the exhibitor workshop.
Originally planned to take place in April 2020, but postponed due to the pandemic, the event has been in the pipeline by Vision Buxton’s Marketing Group since the autumn of 2019. Current exhibitors include local attractions and tour groups, accommodation providers and event organisers.
“Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust is delighted to be involved in this FAM visit and looks forward to showcasing our engaging Crescent Experience attraction as well as our array of visitor services in the Pump Room. We hope to showcase Buxton as a vibrant destination for coach operators.” Stephen Owen, Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust CEO.
“As a green-minded business, we are delighted to welcome coach and rail companies to the town and to show them just how much the town of Buxton has to offer. Working with other tourism partners in the town we can curate the perfect addition to any day trip or extended visit to the Peak District.” Netta Christie, Discover Buxton Tours
The event is partnering with national coach magazine company, Coach Tours UK, which has been established in the bus and coach industry for over 25 years. The Magazine is mailed out every month free of charge and is distributed to thousands of bus and coach operators throughout the UK each month.
‘’We are delighted to be working with Vision Buxton and all of the towns attractions to showcase Buxton to the readers of Coach Tours UK magazine. Derbyshire is a truly stunning county for coach day trips and short breaks, and Buxton is without doubt at the top of the list of places to be based. We have worked on a number of FAM visits in the past with various tourist organisations, and the days are always popular, giving coach operators and group organisers a real insight as to what is on offer for them to return with their groups, these events are also great as they give delegates the chance to meet attractions directly and discuss individual group requirements and packages. We look forward to the day, and would encourage any coach operators or group organisers that haven’t signed up so far, to do so as soon as possible’’ Matthew Inglis, Coach Tours UK magazine’s editor.
The aim is to show the town off to the companies who coordinate group tours around the country and encourage them to not only visit the town, but to base their tours in Buxton.
