The Vision Buxton Marketing Group is now coordinating the production of the next Buxton Town Guide, the free visitor brochure with comprehensive information about the town, and invites visitor-economy businesses to book their adverts.
“The official Buxton Town Guide is a must if you are a visitor or even if you are a local. We hand out thousands of these guides every year to visitors who approach the information desk with a wide range of enquiries requesting recommendations for restaurants, shops and attractions. Over the years, this guide has improved and now we have a very useful guide for everyone” Luke Bates, Buxton Visitor Centre
The current guide, produced for spring 2022, has gone down well.
“The guide is perfect and they’re flying off the shelves… it’s our fastest moving [leaflet] alongside the Visit Peak District maps” Graham Marriott, Derbyarts (distributor)
The next guide will not be distributed until all copies of the previous guide have been distributed, which is anticipated to last until the autumn.
“The town guide is the one publication guaranteed to fly off the shelves from our information stands. We use it to help visitors locate other attractions, places to eat and generally orientate themselves if they wish to self-guide. It is without doubt the handy, go-to guide for all our visitors.” Netta Christie, Discover Buxton Tours
With Vision Buxton coordinating the guide in-house, a discounted rate, for the first time, is available to Vision Buxton members.
“Being able to set the rates ourselves for the first time, we’re are able to offer a 10% discount to our member, adding to the benefits of being part of the organisation” Roddie MacLean, Chair of Vision Buxton
Despite rising production costs, if you are a member of Vision Buxton, the price of an advert is only around £10 more than it was for the last guide, coordinated in early 2022, due to the discount.
The guide has a local and regional distribution and promotes events, things to do and places to visit, places to stay, places to eat and many of the town’s independent shops.
70,000 copies of the guide will be produced to be used throughout 2024 and into 2025. Between a quarter and a third of the guides are to be distributed regionally through Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire and, if enough funding is raised through advertising, in Manchester and London as well.
