Vision Buxton owns and maintains the ‘Visit Buxton’ website and social media channels.
The Visit Buxton website, which offers comprehensive listings of businesses in the town, event listings and planning information, had its best year ever in 2023. November is the start of Vision Buxton’s membership year so, if you’d like to get your businesses listed, now is the time to join.
Page Views
Over 830,000 page views were recorded in 2023, an increase of over 40,000 on 2022. This number may have been even higher as the data was impacted by the switch-over of Google Analytics in late-June.
Monthly page views reached over 90,000 in August, second only to August 2021, which hit nearly 109,000 page views, with a monthly baseline over the winter of over 60,000 and an average across the year of over 69,000.
Events Listings
The ‘What’s on When’ calendar has grown to become the second most popular page on the website, behind the home page, reinforcing the efforts made to populate the calendar with everything on in Buxton.
Vision Buxton is committed to providing all relevant businesses with a free, basic listing on the website. This is mirrored in the events calendar, with events of non-member businesses given basic event listings, to help provide potential visitors the full picture of what’s going on in Buxton.
The monthly live music listing also continues to increase in popularity, as do the holiday events listings, both collated by Vision Buxton’s administrator. The festive events in 2023 was the most popular news post and the 11th most popular page overall.
These listings primarily feature Vision Buxton members, with basic listings provided for other events. To be included in the calendar and the event listings, please send information to administrator@visionbuxton.co.uk.
Investment
Some minor design changes have been made to the site over the last year to make it more phone -friendly as mobile use continues to increase, now approaching 70%. The investment made in the website in 2017-18, to redesign it for this purpose, thanks to a grant from The Bingham Trust, has certainly been worthwhile. 2023 also saw the first use by Smart TV!
Popular referrals to the website include from the websites of VisitBritain, Peak District by Train, Trip Advisor, Visit England, Mummy Travels and The Guardian, showing the national interest of our town.
