Connex Community Support
Previously Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales, the charity was established in 1982. It is principally involved in the provision of a diverse and comprehensive range of services to people in the local community, in particular older people, adults and children with physical, sensory or learning disabilities and to families in and around Derbyshire Dales and High Peak; including transport services for older and disabled people, befriending services, care & support services, home maintenance & cleaning services and much more. Connex have offices in Ashbourne and Buxton which cover the whole of the Peaks and Dales.
In 2017/18 we helped over 5,300 people in the Derbyshire Dales and High Peak to live safer and more fulfilled lives.
In 2017/18 our 280 volunteers donated a staggering 29,000 hours of additional care to our community. This equates to £228,000 of support delivered through connecting the kindness and generosity of others, with those in need.
In 2017/18 we helped to combat loneliness through the provision of 6,100 hours of companionship to elderly people living in the community who are isolated, vulnerable or in need of company.
In 2017/18 we provided 3,455 fire safety, telecare and security support visits to people over 60, ensuring greater safety in our community. This was delivered through our Handy Van service which is funded by Derbyshire County Council.
In 2017/18 we enabled many elderly and vulnerable people to attend vital medical appointments and social activities through the provision of 15,000 journeys made possible by our Volunteer Transport service.
We supported 250 organisations in their volunteer goals, from recruitment to effective management – enabling the continual development and promotion of welfare of others through the donation of time.
