Alan Thompson the Chairman of the Voluntary and Community Services Peaks and Dales (VCSPD) is asking Vision Buxton members if they can help.
The local community charity, VCS Peaks and Dales (formerly the Volunteer Centre) is facing the possibility of reducing or even closing some of its services due to threatened funding cuts from Derbyshire County Council and the Clinical Commissioning Groups. The charity has been active in Buxton and The High Peak, Ashbourne and the Derbyshire Dales for thirty years.
Over the years we have supported thousands of local people, including disabled children, young people, the elderly, or vulnerable in some way, at various stages of their lives. In any year we provide 40,000 hours of care services and transport 25,000 passengers to medical appointments.
Since the early days our services have been supported and funded by Derbyshire County Council and the health services (now known as Clinical Commissioning Groups). These major funders are now facing huge cuts from central government and as a consequence are looking at where they can make savings.
How you can help
It would be very helpful if Vision Buxton members felt able to write a letter, urging DC and CCG not to cut funding to VCSPD so that we can continue to serve 2000 vulnerable and needy people of The Peak District and The Derbyshire Dales.
DCC letters should be sent to:
Adult Care Strategic Director,
DCC, County Hall, Matlock, DE4 3AG.
CCG letters should be sent to:
North Derbyshire CCG,
Senior Commissioning Manager,
CCG Headquarters, Nightingale Close, Off Newbold Road, Chesterfield, S41 7PF.
