We had an interesting report from Paul Bohan about Zink Employability a work and skills programme that has already been celebrated in a parliamentary report and is helping local people to turn their lives around.
Zink Employability works in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales to:
Zink is part of High Peak Foodbank, Their aim is to help anyone who needs them to get the job they want so they are financially independent and don’t need to rely on state or charity handouts.

Pavilion Gardens winter closure
There was widespread dismay that the Pavilion Gardens had been closed over Xmas and New Year when the pantomine and ballet were on at the Opera House. There were various reports of people looking for refreshments, toilets and the Tourist offfice. Vision Buxton will be working with other town organistions to approach HPBC in the hope that we can improve the situation next year.
State of Buxton
The Town Team reported that their meeting on 18th January would be to look at what needs to be done in Buxton to improve the town and how those issues could be resolved. Vision Buxton will be working with the Town team and other town organisations to discuss this further with Dai Larner at the HPBC.
Buxton Civic Association
This year is the 50th Anniversary of the BCA.and there will be celebrations taking place in May. Among projects planned for this year is an Open Air Theatre space in Grinlow Woods.
Charles Jolly reported that the Fairtrade Fortnight takes place this year from Monday 27 February to Sunday 12 March 2017. The High Peak is very close to being designated a Fairtrade Borough. Charles Jolly would be very interested to hear from businesses in Buxton that use Fairtrade products. You don't have to use exclusively Fairtrade products to be considered a Fairtrade Business.
