Buxton Opera House is Derbyshire's leading, and largest, receiving theatre, with 938 seats, presenting an all-year-round programme of drama, opera, ballet, comedy and a wide range of musical concerts, plus annual Christmas Panto and Summer Festivals.

The whole area is a country park in the care of Buxton Civic Association. The top of Grin Low, which once had a Bronze Age tumulus, is now capped by Solomon's Temple, a folly built in 1895 by public subscription to provide work for the local jobless. It makes a fine viewpoint.

The Annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival is the world's biggest celebration of the wonderfully witty and melodic G&S Operas. Runs for three weeks every summer and now in its 15th year

With wonderful Grade 2 listed buildings and 23 acres of beautifully restored Victorian landscaping, on the banks of the River Wye. The Pavilion Gardens offers a great day out with a wide programme of fairs and events, with catering and retail experiences to suit all tastes.

The cave has been regarded as 'The First Wonder of the Peak' since the 1600s and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary as an official show cave and tourist attraction.
