Buxton is a wonderful place to live and work and appeals to people of all ages and interests. The University of Buxton has a campus in the fantastic “Dome”, and their website says “Buxton's a beautiful, small and friendly town with lots of character”. As the town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the whole of the United Kingdom, what more could anyone ask? Work is expected to start very soon (hopefully in June 2010) on the magnificent Georgian Crescent building, returning this jewel in Buxton’s crown to its original splendour and creating a modern Spa complex that will attract visitors from all over the world. Vision Buxton is working with the local authority, High Peak Borough Council, to try and develop a Business Incubator for Buxton, something that will really help the very high number of small businesses that thrive in this area. Buxton truly is a town that has something for everyone. It is a very caring community, full of people who are willing to go that extra mile to help a wide variety of causes. The fantastic Opera House plays host to an amazing range of cultural performances including the world famous Opera Festival and the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, and Buxton’s Fringe is second only to Edinburgh’s. The lovingly restored Pavilion Gardens park is the only one in the East Midlands region to boast a coveted Green Heritage Award, and has won special awards in the East Midlands In Bloom competition. Buxton itself came first in its category for the fourth time in a row in the same competition in 2009, and represented Britain in the 2009 Europe In Bloom, or Entente Florale, competition. A new theatre, the Pavilion Arts Centre, will open at the Pavilion Gardens in late 2010.
